Conti performed EPC services for this 5.2 MW DC carport mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system interconnected with Baltimore Gas and Electric grid network. The project consisted of 14 separate canopy structures located in 11 parking lots on three campuses.
Construction of these canopies took place during the off-peak summer class schedule, however, there were limits to the amount of parking spaces and lots available for Conti to use at any given time due to summer classes, faculty parking, special events, class registration and parking for local events. Conti’s operations had to be carefully coordinated, which was accomplished by weekly coordination meetings and daily briefing with the Facility Department at each campus. Public safety for college employees, students and visitors was of paramount importance, so Conti also posted signage and notifications each time lots were closed and bus routes/stops were rerouted to ensure the public could safely move and drive throughout the campus.
Design and construction schedules needed to be completed prior to the beginning of the fall semester starting, which Conti achieved through careful planning and coordination with each of the campuses.
