Conti designed and constructed two adjacent arrays interconnected at 13.2 kV totaling 9.5 MW, managing all aspects of the project, including grid interconnection, utility coordination and state, county and township approval. Conti cleared the 40-acre site and installed the over 33,000 photovoltaic (PV) modules and 12 inverter skids in the array. Special considerations were made during construction as the site contained historic grounds as well as wetlands.
Conti worked with local, county and state officials to construct the array in accordance with inspectors’ requests while meeting the difficult schedule demands of the project. The original design called for interconnection at 69 kV, however, due to schedule and constructability concerns it became clear this interconnection could not be completed in the project’s timeframe.
In response, Conti worked with utility companies PJM and PSE&G to re-engineer the interconnection voltage to 3.2 kV. Conti also worked with PJM to perform feasibility and impact studies on an accelerated basis, starting construction within months of finalizing design details and applications. This proactive redesigning allowed for on time project completion and saved the owner over $500,000.
Working with the utility to modify the interconnection voltage for the project, Conti was able to save the project owner money and complete the construction on schedule.
