The Leicester project in this portfolio is one of the first PV + DC coupled energy storage projects in the MA market and the first one for CS Energy.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Client is an independent power producer who develops, owns and operates utility scale solar and energy storage projects with more than 100 MW operating in its fleet across MA, NJ, NY, NC, SC, NV, CT & AZ.

CS Energy was contracted to provide engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services to eleven (11) ground mounted solar projects coupled with energy storage systems across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The projects ranged in size from 3.5 to 7.2 MWdc for solar PV and 2 MW/4 MWhr to 4 MW/8 MWhr for the energy storage. The projects were part of the development under the Massachusetts SMART program.

CS Energy was able to mobilize within ten business days on each project once release for construction and performed civil site preparation on over 300 acres of land. One of the projects located in Leicester, MA is one of the first PV + DC coupled energy storage projects to go online in the state and the first of many for CS Energy.

The portfolio of projects was executed timely despite challenging sub-surface and topography with slopes north of 15 percent and included multiple days of rock blasting and boulder/ledge removal. This portfolio consisted of various interconnection configurations as equipment varied from pad to pole mounted designs and the energy storage systems were both AC and DC coupled.
