CS Energy Named a Finalist in Two Cleanie Award Categories for Second Consecutive Year

National renewable energy firm’s staff recognized in Woman of the Year and Trailblazer categories

Edison, NJ, February 8, 2023 – CS Energy has been named a finalist in the Cleanie Awards, the clean energy industry’s premier annual awards program that recognizes innovators and those making an impact in cleantech, for the second consecutive year. Compared to 2021, the Cleanie Awards program received a 56 percent increase in the number of submissions, making 2022 one of the most competitive years of the program.

CS Energy’s team members were named finalists in two award categories: Woman of the Year and Trailblazer. “We’re very proud to have two extremely talented and dedicated members of our leadership team, recognized by the Cleanie Award program’s esteemed Judging Panel,” said Matthew Skidmore, CEO of CS Energy. “Our exceptional employees remain our greatest asset and we look forward to continuing to build a strong leadership team and cohesive team as we continue to grow in 2023 and the years to come.”

CS Energy’s Vice President of Preconstruction, Janani Ramkumar, was named a finalist in the Trailblazer category as a result of her prominent role as a mentor and champion of younger professionals. Throughout her twelve year tenure at CS Energy, Janani has mentored over 40 professionals, supporting them with obtaining 30 promotions in the process. She also is a founding member of CS Energy Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), the company’s first ever mentorship program and employee resource group, which has resulted in the company successfully increasing its female staff by 70 percent and reaching 50 percent C-Suite women. Janani’s ability to develop, train & lead robust, diverse teams as well as her engineering and estimating expertise have been instrumental in growing the clean energy economy and enabling CS Energy to successfully bid, build, and construct over 1.5 GW of solar and 470 MWh of energy storage across 151 projects & 19 states.

Dawn Robinson, CS Energy’s Vice President of Human Resources, was named a finalist in the Woman of the Year category due in part to her founding and leadership of CS Energy WiRE. During this same time period, CS Energy increased its revenue by 122 percent, serving as a case in point for the often quoted studies that companies with above average diversity are 19 percent more likely to produce a greater proportion of revenue from innovation and 24 percent more likely to financially outperform their less diverse counterparts. Dawn’s external STEM-focused initiatives, including through close collaboration with the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP), are also empowering young women to pursue clean energy careers. Additionally, Dawn founded Lifeline Mentoring Group, a non-profit organization devoted to supporting at-risk youth in their education, future careers and personal lives. In total, the organization mentored 65 under-privileged junior high school and high school age kids in the Middlesex County, New Jersey area.

As the leading cleantech awards program, the Cleanie Awards receives nominations for outstanding individuals as well as projects across a range of categories every year. All category winners are selected by the program’s distinguished Judging Panel and will be announced on February 15, 2023. Learn more about the Cleanie Awards: https://thecleanieawards.com/.
