Company recognized for fourth consecutive year for its leadership, performance & innovation
Edison, NJ, October 18, 2023 — CS Energy has been named a finalist in the annual S&P Platts Global Energy Awards for a fourth consecutive year. The 2023 Finalists, representing 33 countries, were announced by event host S&P Global Commodity Insights, the leading independent provider of information, analysis and benchmark prices for commodities, metals, petrochemicals, energy and energy transition markets. Now in its 25th year as the industry’s premier recognition event, the S&P Platts Global Energy Awards are often described as “the Oscars of the energy industry.” The program recognizes individual and corporate leadership, innovation, and exceptional performance in 21 categories spanning the entire energy and chemicals complex.
CS Energy’s Vice President of Operations, Janani Ramkumar, was named a finalist in the Rising Star Individual category due to her innovation, creation of new opportunities, and ability to deliver measurable results. Janani was recognized for her ability to develop and lead innovative company departments and programs. Her efforts contributed to CS Energy successfully bidding and constructing over 1.5 GW of solar and 470 MWh of energy storage across 250 projects & 19 states and increasing revenue by 122 percent annually.
Prior to her current role as Vice President of Operations, Janani led the company’s first ever Preconstruction Department, which directly facilitated CS Energy’s 200 percent growth in the amount of solar capacity installed in just a few years, significantly accelerating the energy transition in the process. Janani’s leadership also drastically shortened design timelines by 66 percent through the implementation of new tools and processes. Additionally, Janani expanded the organization’s expertise in civil and structural engineering, electrical estimating and energy storage, which are now key growth functions that didn’t previously exist within the organization. To keep up with the growth that she has been instrumental in helping the company accomplish, Janani expanded her team fivefold.
Janani is currently overseeing CS Energy’s largest solar project and the largest solar project in Northeastern US, at 155 MW spread over 485 acres of land. Janani worked with the owner on pre-construction efforts of the project and is now overseeing construction of this project that has created 200 jobs and will produce enough clean energy to power 12,000 homes.
In addition to her day-to-day work, Janani took it upon herself to be one of the founding members of CS Energy Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), the company’s first women mentorship program and employee resource group. CS Energy WiRE has resulted in the company successfully increasing its female staff by 70 percent and reaching 50 percent C-Suite women in the male dominated clean energy industry, just two years after it was founded.
“We are very proud to have another team member at CS Energy recognized by this prestigious awards program for their innovation, leadership and significant contributions to the energy transition,” said Erol Ozkirbas, Chief Operating Officer at CS Energy. “At CS Energy, we understand that our employees are our greatest assets, and we are extremely grateful to have Janani a part of our growing team.”
Winners will be selected from each corresponding group of finalists by the Global Energy Awards’ independent panel of judges and announced at the S&P Global Platts Global Energy Awards black-tie gala in New York on December 7th.
